Imile Wepener is an illustration graduate of the Open Window Institute in Johannesburg. He holds a degree in Visual Communication with emphasis on illustration technique. Wepener’s most ambitious project to date was a guest content contribution for German magazine, Donna, for which he wrote an extensive listicle with accompanying numerical illustrations.
With a background in drawing and artisinal craft, Wepener is now gaining exposure for his multimedia techniques – sketching, scanning, doodling, cutting and manipulating artworks further on screen with digital tools. Currently, Wepener works as a freelance illustrator. According to him, the best kind of designer is able to maintain the fine balance between upholding a signature style while satisfying the commercial brief.
