World-renowned chef Elena Arzak was born in San Sebastián in the Basque country, an autonomous community of Spain. Drawing from her love of traditional Basque cuisine and her ability to innovate, Arzak has proved herself a pioneer in the culinary world.
In 2012, she won the Veuve Clicquot award for World’s Best Female Chef. This was recognised as a landmark moment in her career as she firmly took her place as one of the world’s most prolific chefs next to her father, Juan Mari Arzak.
At their family restaurant and cooking lab, the Arzaks create around 40 new dishes per year by combining traditional Basque flavours with the modern techniques of gastronomy.
