Carine Terreblanche is a trained as jeweller and goldsmith. Since starting in this field, she has juggled between materials including wood, silver and gold, creating bespoke sculptural pieces cast in vitreous enamel, enamel paint and other alternative materials. Her practice questions the tenuous, constructed gap between jewellery, sculpture, fine art and craft.
She completed her BA in Fine Arts, BA (Hons) and a MA in Fine Arts with specialization in Creative Jewellery and Metal Design at Stellenbosch University. She also studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam during the 1993/94 academic years.
Terreblanche lectured at Stellenbosch University from 1994 - 2001. As a contemporary jeweller, her research interest includes deconstructing the stereotypes of conventional or traditional jewellery and objects within a South African context.
