Nicola De Jager's Calavera range aims to change society’s take on skulls with unique design and craftmanship.

Calavera-creator Nicola De Jager's inspiration for embroidering skulls comes from the collaboration of many elements: cultural significance, life and death, music, colour, tribal art. She aspires to change society’s perception of skulls as being associated with dark and negative elements to a more positive one.

Every item she produces is unique and entirely produced by hand. This year she focuses on Delft blaauw, which denotes the iconic blue and white pottery made in and around Delft in the Netherlands, as well as laser-engraved, locally-sourced bamboo and wood.
