Mescla creates innovative and exclusive design products with a touch of humour, in differnet colours and shapes.
Mescla aims to preserve the essence of craft traditions associated with handmade products in their more industrial designs.
Mescla was established in 2009 as a partnership between Brazilian furniture designer and Mozambican resident Carla Botosso, and Vavasati – a cooperative of 50 Mozambican women. The women are taught professional skills and technical capacities to create beautifully crafted, unique rugs, cushions, children's clothing and other products.
Everything is handmade and characterised by their structure, which is very rich in detail and draws on special artistic skill.
See Mescla at Design Indaba Expo from 2 to 4 March 2012.
