Disconnect

Masashi Kawamura has designed a collection of garments that keep people focused on the real world.

Masashi Kawamura’s latest design allows users to enjoy a lifestyle of focus, real friends, real moments and real life.

In the digital age of today, being glued to a smart device seems like the norm, but what are its effects and are people losing out on real life and real fun?

Along with the idea that the various technologies behind chatting, tweeting, liking and engaging with “friends” all over the world sometimes takes up too much time, Japanese designer Kawamura along with his creative lab PARTY collaborated with Anrealage and AID-DCC to design a collection of garments that keep people focused on the real world.

Often technology distracts us from the things we really want to focus on, like enjoying a moment with real friends and appreciating the world around us, says Kawamura.

The Focus: Life Gear by Trident collection of garments in collaboration with Trident Gum, is a fashion line that helps people disconnect from social media. The pieces are made using a special radio frequency shielding fabric that disconnects all signals when a smart device is placed inside a pocket.

The collection consists of 12 pieces and was recently unveiled at an exhibition in Toronto, Canada.
