Ron Arad recognised at London2011

Ron Arad is the 2011 winner of the coveted London Design Medal.


Ron Arad has been awarded the London Design Medal 2011, as part of the London Design Festival.

The medal, which was awarded to Arad at a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, is given annually to a designer in recognition of a lifetime’s contribution to design and the city.

Born in Israel, Arad has been living and working in London since 1973. At the event her said: “I can’t imagine doing whatever it is I do anywhere else in the world.”

An important part of the London Design Festival calendar, the award is one of the most coveted British design awards. Winners are selected by a panel of peers and experts.

The London Design Medal is specially designed by Pentagram.

Ron Arad

Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv in 1951, the son of a photographer and a painter. Before moving to London in 1973, he studied for three years at the Jerusalem Academy of Art.
