Design Indaba Expo 2010: One of SA’s leading designers, Haldane Martin will be revealing his latest prototype, the Baba Papa lounger.

One of South Africa’s leading designers, Haldane Martin will be revealing his latest prototype, the Baba Papa lounger. Inspired by the organic shape of beach pebbles and with the name taken from an early-1980s South African cartoon, the Baba Papa lounger is made from rust-proof stainless steel wire making it ideal to put outdoors by the swimming pool. Martin has ensured comfort by not only making the lounger structurally strong, but also powder-coating it white so that it doesn’t get hot while you spend the day lounging in the sun.

From these promising beginnings he moved on to work for Richard Sparks Industrial Design consultancy but, just a year later, branched off on his own to develop furniture and homeware designs.
