Life in technicolour

The Schwarzie sisters have launched a new stationery and jewellery collection, both highlighting their love for colour and pattern.

Past Emerging Creatives the Schwarz sisters continue their love affair with colour and pattern in new jewellery and stationery collections.

Astrid Schwarz is a graphic designer and Karen Schwarz is a jewellery designer. Together the duo create bespoke jewellery pieces fabricated in silver and occasionally brass as well as unique stationery ranges that boast their unique Schwarzie Pattern, which is applied in various forms and colour.

Schwarzie’s latest jewellery collection is titled, Deco Dance. The various pieces that make up the collection are infused by the lifestyle and design language of the Art Deco era in the 1920s.

From New York City rose a vertical city of decadence, roaring music, extravagance and dance; this is what has inspired our collection, says Karen Schwarz.

Pieces in the collection take their names from various dance moves and the Jazz music that often accompanied them, such as the Charleston, the Lindy Hop, Margie and the Baltimore Buzz.

The sisters’ new stationery collection introduces the latest and freshest notepads that highlight a love for living life in full colour. While aesthetics play a key role in their designs, the various notepads incorporate practical ways to encourage organisation.

Whimsy is highlighted, such as where the ‘to-do’ list phrase is replaced by ‘This & That’, while colour too plays a vital role and sees each notepad printed in full colour, says Astrid Schwarz.
