About

Sahre, Victore, Wilker is an annual, independent gathering, where experimentation and creative thought rule. For five intensive days participants collaborate to reconsider their working processes and push their ideas.

Participants from around the world are welcome!

Created by Paul Sahre, James Victore and Jan Wilker, their annual workshop is a mix of hands-on design challenges, guest speakers, micro-exhibitions, surprises, discussions and anything else. Based in New York City, Paul, James and Jan are taking the workshop on the road. This is a one-time-only opportunity to study with them in Cape Town!

“The things we have in common, other than being three white guys, is that we love what we do and we want to share our enthusiasm for making things with those in attendance. We try to immerse and overwhelm. One of the strengths of our workshop is that each of us is present at all times, discussing and sometimes arguing about what's at hand. Participants don't get the luxury of adhering to one teacher's monopoly of the truth, they have to actively engage in the discussion and argue for their ideas. We're very much looking forward to this year's workshop in beautiful Cape Town. See you in September!” - Paul, James and Jan

Paul Sahre

Graphic designer, illustrator, educator, author and editor, Paul Sahre established his own design company in New York in 1997. Consciously maintaining a small office, he has nevertheless established a large presence in American graphic design.

The balance he strikes, whether between commercial and personal projects or in his own design process, is evident in such things as the physical layout of his office slash design studio. On one side would be the silkscreen lab, where he prints designs and posters for various off-off Broadway Theatres (some of which are in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum); while on the other side, he is busy designing book covers for authors such as Rick Moody, Chuck Klosterman, Ben Marcus and Victor Pelevin.

Sahre is also a frequent contributor to the New York Times "Op-ed" page. He is the co-author of Hello World: A Life in Ham Radio, a book based on a collection of QSL cards, which amateur radio enthusiasts exchange after communication with other operators around the world.
