Richard Hart

Richard Hart is a Durban-based graphic designer. After dismally failing his first year of college, he spent an entire December pondering design and his 18-year-old life. Three years later he was awarded a scholarship to study abroad. He returned to South Africa in 1997 and soon opened Disturbance Design in partnership with his sister, Susie.

OMM Design Workshop

Together, Andrew Makin and Janina Masojada lead OMM Design Workshop, an architecture practice based in Durban, South Africa. That they are a multiple award-winning team is hardly surprising – the firm defines itself by the quality and relevance of its conceptual design, production and final resolution.

Chris de Beer

Chris de Beer started his studies at Technikon Natal and went on to obtain a Masters in Fine Art, majoring in jewellery, from the University of Stellenbosch. Since 1994 he has headed up the Jewellery Department at Technikon Natal, now the Durban Institute of Technology (DIT).

Garth Walker

Garth Walker trained as a graphic designer and photographer at Technikon Natal in Durban in the mid 1970s.

He later founded Orange Juice Design in Durban in 1995, one of South Africa’s best-known graphic design studios and one of the very few with an international reputation. In 2008 Walker again went solo with his new studio, Mister Walker.

Amanda Laird Cherry

Amanda Laird Cherry is one of South Africa’s most established fashion designers and one who has fused the development of her clothes with that of the country. She’s been lauded in both local and international media including Y-Mag, Wallpaper, Dazed and Confused, British Vogue and Time magazine.
