Vince Frost

A member of CSD, D&AD, ISTD, AGDA and AGI, Vince Frost plays an active role in the world design community, regularly lecturing at colleges and conferences.

Richard Hart

Richard Hart is a Durban-based graphic designer. After dismally failing his first year of college, he spent an entire December pondering design and his 18-year-old life. Three years later he was awarded a scholarship to study abroad. He returned to South Africa in 1997 and soon opened Disturbance Design in partnership with his sister, Susie.

Luyanda Mpahlwa

Architect Luyanda Mpahlwa is principal and director of MMA Architects in Cape Town. Mpahlwa completed his National Architectural Diploma in 1986 while serving a five-year term in Robben Island Prison, before going on to complete a Masters in Architecture at the Technical University of Berlin in 1997.

Rasshied Din

Rasshied Din is a well-known designer and ex-partner in the successful interior and graphic design consultancy Din Associates. Started in 1986, the consultancy formed dynamic relationships in its early work with George Davies at Next and Stephen Marks of French Connection.

Veejay Archary

Veejay Archary was a founding partner of Herdbuoys McCann-Erickson, the first black-owned advertising and design company in South Africa in 1991. He has worked in New York for Diefenbah Elkins/FutureBrand, a world leader in branding. He was trained in Durban, Buenos Aires and New York.

Tom Roope

After studying a degree in film video and photography in 1991, Tom Roope began working in the multimedia industry. After several freelance roles including technical and creative director, he started working at Tomato, heading up their first interactive project.

Shubhankar Ray

Shubhankar Ray is world renowned for his work as creative director of Camper, where he has worked on the Walking Society concept and the Visual Language System, including a global ad campaign, magazine, film, web and shop systems.

Shigeo Fukuda’s awards include a place in the Hall of Fame from NY ADC in 1987, the gold at the International Poster Biennale Warsaw in 1972, first prize at Moscow International Poster Biennale, the grand prix at the UNESCO International Poster Exhibition in 1985, and the grand prix at Helsin

Ross Lovegrove

Ross Lovegrove graduated from Manchester Polytechnic with a first-class BA Honours in industrial design in 1980 and in 1983 from the Royal College of Art with a Masters of Design degree. In the early 1980s he worked as a designer for Frog Design in West Germany on projects for Sony and Apple Computers.

Tyler Brûlé

Tyler Brûlé launched Wallpaper* in 1996, which became an instant publishing success. In 1997 Time Warner purchased Wallpaper* and it’s now sold in more than 50 countries. The magazine has won numerous awards for its design, international relevance and use of typography and has become part of the cultural vocabulary.
